Mike is a proven first chair trial lawyer and commercial litigator with more than thirty years’ experience managing complex high stakes litigation. He has tried more than two dozen jury trials and has appeared in more than 30 state and federal jurisdictions. His practice includes state and federal litigation, appeals, arbitration, mediation and regulatory matters.

Mike also does extensive work in the energy sector, representing energy developers, data center developers and large off-takers in transactional, regulatory, litigation and policy matters.

Commercial Litigation  
  • Defending social media platform in deceptive trade practice and consumer protection litigation.
  • Won federal jury verdict on behalf of freight logistics firm against competitor in unfair trade practices litigation.
  • Won trial judgment on behalf of retail tenant in commercial lease dispute.
  • Defeated proposed public utility and irrigation district merger on behalf of adversely affected landowners.
  • Won dismissal of $10 million breach of fiduciary duty lawsuit brought by shareholders against officers following bank failure.
  • Favorably resolved $12 million commercial claim in favor of defendant manufacturer.
  • Won "bet the company" judgment if favor of election services consultant.
  • Won $18 million international arbitration for U.S. manufacturer.
  • Won jury verdict for Texas FEMA contractor in vendor dispute.
  • Won federal jury verdict for defendant Missouri grain company in seven figure conversion suit.
  • Won summary judgment for pharmaceutical company sued for $12 million under Lanham Act.
Energy
  • Advised and represented renewable energy developers on more than two dozen completed projects in Nebraska, Kansas, Colorado and Texas having an aggregate generating capacity exceeding 2 GW.
  • Advised and represented large data center developers and operators in Nebraska for two completed facilities and two under construction.
  • Negotiated power purchase agreements for more than 1.1 GW of capacity.
  • Works with local and state officials and industry leaders to develop sound energy policies.
  • Represents clients in matters before state regulators.
