Tanya L. Lawless

Ms. Lawless has nearly a decade of experience specializing in public finance and education law. Serving in the capacity as bond, disclosure, issuer’s and underwriter’s counsel, Tanya has successfully guided numerous public entities, including educational institutions, special districts, cities, towns and counties, through the complexities of intricate financial transactions. Tanya’s finance practice also includes advising regional centers and other stakeholders in structuring EB-5 securities offerings in compliance with securities laws and evolving EB-5 program requirements.

In Tanya’s education practice, she primarily advises schools on special education related matters to promote compliance with federal and state regulations, including the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, and the Americans with Disabilities Act. Her understanding of the legal requirements and practical challenges faced by educational institutions enables her to provide effective legal counsel to school districts while promoting educational outcomes for students. Tanya also serves as general counsel to school districts and charter schools on a wide array of other issues, including student matters, school operations, labor and employment and constitutional issues.

Beyond her legal practice, Tanya is an active member of several professional organizations, including the National Association of Bond Lawyers, and the Washington Council for School Attorneys. In addition, she currently serves on the Executive Committee for the Downtown Spokane Business Improvement District’s Ratepayer Advisory Board, which provides support for economic development and revitalization in Downtown Spokane, and as a Board Member on InvestED, a non-profit organization that partners with school districts across Washington State to provide financial support for students experiencing financial hardships.
