Ryan is an intellectual property associate in the firm’s Kansas City office. Ryan’s practice focuses on all areas of intellectual property law, with an emphasis on patent and trademark prosecution. - Trademark availability due diligence searches and legal opinions
- Advising clients of all sizes on intellectual property concerns and opportunities to protect, assert, and defend intellectual property rights
- Advocating vigorously for clients’ intellectual property positions, preparation of demand letters to enforce clients’ intellectual property rights, and negotiating resolution of intellectual property disputes
- Preparation of intellectual property agreements, including confidentiality agreements, non-disclosure agreements, joint development agreements, memorandums of understanding, intellectual property licenses, intellectual property assignments, and settlement agreements
- Preparation and filing of federal copyright applications
- Representation of clients in intellectual property litigation, with experience in patent, trademark, trade dress, copyright, and trade secret cases
- Preparation of court pleadings, motions, memorandums, discovery requests, and discovery responses
- Representation of clients before the USPTO Trademark Trial and Appeals Board (TTAB) in trademark cancellation and opposition proceedings
- Representation of clients in Uniform Domain Name Dispute Resolution Policy (UDRP) proceedings
