Lesley is a tenacious trial lawyer known for her creative approach to dispute resolution. She vigorously represents both plaintiffs and defendants in a wide variety of complex commercial litigation matters with a focus on copyright enforcement and business litigation. Lesley regularly advises business clients on personnel issues, employee handbook policies, best practices, and operations and compliance issues.
Prior to joining Kutak Rock, Lesley served as a judicial law clerk in U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Washington where she prepared analyses and orders relating to employment litigation, constitutional claims, insurance disputes and intellectual property litigation. She attained invaluable experience and insight participating in both federal criminal and civil jury trials, enhancing her current practice.
Lesley plays an active role in recruitment and social engagement for the firm’s Spokane Office.
Complex Commercial Litigation
- Successfully defeated a motion for preliminary injunction brought against client where opposing party tried to stop client from selling its products and advertising its services.
- Obtained complete dismissal of claims against client in federal court for alleged HIPAA violations, negligence, breach of contract, and defamation, and obtained Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals judgment affirming the federal court’s dismissal.
- Successfully defeated a motion for summary judgment to dismiss claims asserted by client for violations of Washington’s Consumer Protection Act and statutory and common law trespass in contentious property litigation.
- Successfully obtained declaratory judgment and quiet title for client in property litigation involving disputed rights asserted by a homeowner’s association.
- Obtained successful Unemployment Commissioner Decision affirming denial of unemployment benefits to client’s former employee.
