Kutak Rock attorneys Andrew King and Russell Atchley successfully persuaded a jury to award $14 million in damages to the firm’s client Chase Global Services in a high-stakes trade secret case in Pulaski County Circuit Court.

The jury found in favor of Chase Global Services of Reno, Nevada, concluding that Protech Solutions Inc. of Little Rock, Arkansas misappropriated Chase Global’s trade secrets to secure a $65 million Nevada state contract for software services related to child support enforcement.

The case was filed in 2019 and took seven years to reach trial due to the Covid-19 pandemic and Protech’s appeal of a discovery issue in which Chase Global prevailed.

Messrs. King and Atchley were joined by Peter F. Klett III of Dickinson Wright PLLC in presenting Chase Global’s case in the eight-day jury trial. Max Deitchler of Kutak Rock LLP and Brian Irvine of Dickinson Wright PLLC also served as counsel of record, having participated in document discovery, depositions, pleadings, and briefing throughout the life of the case.

Kutak Rock’s litigation team is nationally recognized for its work in complex commercial disputes including trade secrets, intellectual property and unfair competition matters. This result reflects the firm’s continued commitment to protecting clients’ most valuable business assets.
