Kutak Rock Welcomes Colin Finnegan to Employment Law Group

Kutak Rock is pleased to announce that Colin Finnegan has joined the firm as of counsel in its labor, employment, and litigation groups in the Omaha and Kansas City Offices.

Colin is a labor and employment attorney who represents and counsels employers nationwide on a broad range of traditional labor and employment matters. He has extensive experience advising clients on union organizing campaigns, unfair labor practice charges, union awareness training, arbitrations, and collective bargaining negotiations. Colin partners with employers to develop practical, business-focused labor relations strategies across a variety of industries, including nonprofits, higher education, construction, healthcare, manufacturing, retail and hospitality, and transportation. Prior to joining Kutak Rock, Colin practiced at large nationwide law firms representing clients in traditional labor, employment litigation, and other litigation matters.

In addition to his labor practice, Colin defends employers against claims arising under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), Titles III and VII of the Civil Rights Act, OSHA, and various state discrimination laws. He has guided clients through all phases of litigation in state and federal courts and works proactively with employers on compliance matters, including employment policies, handbooks, hiring and termination decisions, drug testing policies, and litigation avoidance strategies.

Colin earned his J.D. from the University of Kansas School of Law in 2020, where he received the James P. Mize Trial Advocacy Award, and his B.A. from Northern Illinois University in 2016. He is an active member of the American Bar Association’s Labor and Employment Law Section and the Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association.

He is admitted to practice in Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska and Oregon, as well as multiple U.S. District Courts. Colin is also fluent in Filipino Tagalog.
