Several Kutak Rock attorneys attended the 2023 annual meeting of the National Association of Women Lawyers (NAWL) in Chicago July 19-20. This year’s theme, “Connect Today, Conquer Tomorrow,” featured sessions on artificial intelligence, negotiation, connection, and DEI initiatives, among others.
Omaha litigation partner Maggie Ebert served on the Host Committee, which curated and coordinated the meeting. She also introduced a panel called “Ripped from the Headlines: Behind the Scenes with Top Defamation Lawyers.” Other attendees included Omaha business, corporate and securities partner Lisa Sarver, who is co-chair of the NAWL Women in Corporate Transactions Affinity Group, co-chair of the firm’s national mergers & acquisitions group and head of the Omaha corporate finance practice group; Omaha public finance partner Michelle Pernicek; Director of Inclusive Engagement Kimberly McKelvey, who also serves as director of strategic focus; and real estate partner and Minneapolis Managing Partner Margot Wickman, who is co-chair of NAWL’s Real Estate Affinity Group.
“This is my second year serving NAWL in a leadership position, and each year brings a multitude of opportunities to network, grow in my career, and serve women lawyers across the country,” said Ms. Ebert. “I’m proud to represent Kutak Rock, especially given how closely the firm’s ideals about supporting and promoting women in law align with NAWL’s.”
Formed in 1899, NAWL provides career development and CLE programming, leadership development, advocacy, and national network opportunities for women lawyers. More information can be found on the NAWL website.
