Our Government Services attorneys also work collaboratively with attorneys across firm services and industry groups to provide counsel and advice on general and specialized topics that include highly-regulated industries such as environmental protection, land use, tax, healthcare, immigration and employment. Our representation includes assisting individuals or corporations in understanding and complying with legal requirements, in addition to assisting clients in challenging government actions, particularly when a governmental action impacts an individual or business.
We maintain active practices across the country, with regulatory attorneys in several Kutak Rock offices. Our geography allows us to handle state and local agency matters in addition to federal matters, with several of our practitioners located in our Washington, D.C. office.
We are regularly retained to assist governmental entities accomplish special projects, including the design, structure and implementation of programs or transactions. Our services involve drafting legislation, regulations, Notices of Fund Availability, applications, handbooks and other operational documents. Additionally, we assist federal and local governments, non-profit entities and others to structure, apply for and implement federal grants and cooperative agreements. Our team leverages its knowledge to assist entities to undertake innovative projects, such as “pay for success” or “social impact bond” projects. When working for governmental entities, we recognize and appreciate the unique role of in-house governmental counsel and collaborate with in-house counsel to ensure governmental requirements are satisfied and necessary internal approvals are obtained.
