  • Defends and counsels insurance companies in matters involving complex coverage issues and bad faith.
  • Represents management and executives, in complex employment matters, in litigation as well as in severance negotiations, involving restrictive covenants, defamation, breach of fiduciary duties, ERISA, FLSA, and age, gender and disability discrimination.
  • Egiazaryan v. Zalmayev - Represented the director of an international non-profit organization dedicated to the promotion of democracy and human rights in a lawsuit brought by Russian oligarch for defamation and injurious falsehood in connection with publication of materials opposing an application for asylum. The defense involved asserting that the action was a “strategic lawsuit against public participation” in violation of N.Y. Civ. Rights Law §§ 70–a, 76–a (the “anti-SLAPP” statute).
  • Universal Trading & Investment Co., Inc. v. Yulia Tymoshenko - Represented former Prime Minister of Ukraine in an action by judgment creditor involving allegations of bribery and money laundering, which was successfully dismissed on personal jurisdiction grounds.
  • Thomas Greco v. The Trustees of the University of Pennsylvania, et al. - Represented The Trustees of the University of Pennsylvania in seven-year litigation ending in a jury defense verdict in favor of The Trustees of the University of Pennsylvania in a complex action regarding rights to distribute Internet 2, a high-speed advanced network available globally to the research and education community.
  • Cook Technologies, Inc. v. Thomas Panzarella, et al. - Represented company president and CEO in ERISA, RICO, and breach of fiduciary duty action alleging prohibited transaction involving ESOP.
  • Represented colleges and universities, including Temple University, University of Pennsylvania, Villanova University, University of the Arts, Delaware Valley University, Gwynedd Mercy College, and Thomas Jefferson University, in employment and education matters. 
  • Represented Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and The Trustees of the University of Pennsylvania in construction and supply contract matters.
  • Commonwealth Savings Bank v. CoreStates Bank, N.A., et al. - Represented Wachovia, First Union and CoreStates (successors by merger) in connection with eight-year litigation arising from the divestiture of branches mandated by the Department of Justice in connection with the Meridian Bank and CoreStates Bank merger.
  • Universal Premium Acceptance Corp. v. York Bank & Tr. Co. - Represented insurance premium finance company in the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit in a suit against a bank involving the fictitious payee rule.
  • Represented commercial real estate owner in legal malpractice and breach of fiduciary duty action brought in connection with the refinancing of a CMBS loan.
  • Represented clients in connection with investigations by the Office of Attorney General for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania relating to pricing clauses in consumer contracts, terms and conditions of mail order catalog sales and advertising claims.
  • Tyshchenko v. Ticketmaster Holdings Group, Ltd., et al. - Represented Philadelphia Flyers Limited Partnership in connection with litigation brought on behalf of a proposed class of ticket purchasers alleging monopolization, attempt to monopolize and tying.
  • Represented public television station plaintiff in the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit in a suit charging deprivation of federal and state constitutional rights to due process, equal protection and free speech and violation of the antitrust laws including monopolization, concerted refusal to deal and horizontal allocation of territories.
  • Represented producer of food products in securities, antitrust and trademark infringement matters.
  • Dailey v. National Hockey League - Represented National Hockey League and its member clubs in litigation involving the League's practices with respect to pension benefits to retired players.
  • National Hockey League v. Karhu Canada, Inc. - Represented National Hockey League and its member clubs in a case charging hockey equipment manufacturers with price-fixing of hockey sticks and other equipment sold to the member clubs.
  • Represented Radnor Corp., a real estate developer, in an action against the City of Philadelphia challenging the constitutionality of an ordinance repealing retroactively a tax abatement on the grounds that the ordinance violated the equal protection, due process, takings, contract and commerce clauses.
