Reid represents clients in complex business disputes in state and federal courts throughout the United States.

Reid represents clients in many industries and often litigates disputes and provides guidance to clients in the investment banking, private equity, financial services, energy, and oil and gas industries. Many of his clients rely on him to investigate, litigate, and arbitrate or try disputes involving claims of fraud, securities fraud, breaches of fiduciary duty, and breaches of contract relating to a wide variety of investment transactions.

Financial Services and Securities Litigation
  • Represent technology services company in securities fraud, fiduciary duty, and contract-related lawsuit against selling company and principals of selling company who failed to disclose numerous material facts during asset purchase transaction.
  • Represent metropolitan district in securities fraud and fiduciary duty litigation against prior owner of real estate development who illegally issued and purchased municipal bonds.
  • Represent subsidiary of publicly-traded company in dispute with former owner of company relating to breach of contractual obligations under asset purchase agreement.
  • Represent banks in several trial and appellate level disputes with borrowers and business partners.
  • Represented limited partner in dispute with general partner of private-equity fund relating to mismanagement of limited partnership's funds and assets.
  • Represented healthcare company in post-purchase arbitration against former owner of company relating to accuracy of disclosures during due diligence process.
  • Represented publicly-traded company in prosecution and defense of multiple securities fraud cases relating to third-party's scheme to disseminate negative information relating to company while taking advantage of short positions in company stock.
  • Represented insurance company in prosecution and defense of several trial and appellate level cases relating to half-billion dollar Ponzi scheme through which the perpetrator and accomplices generated, securitized, and sold bonds backed by fraudulent trade school loans.
  • Represented bank and trust company in fiduciary litigation brought by victims of a third-party's Ponzi scheme.
  • Represented bank in trial to collect loan deficiency, during which, borrower argued that bank improperly valued pledged real estate during foreclosure proceedings.
  • Represented banks in lawsuits relating to state and federal statutory protections provided to banks that acquire assets from the FDIC.
  • Tried lender-liability jury trial relating to bank's obligations to dispose of collateral and to collect default interest in a specified manner.

  • Represented Colorado correctional-industry service provider in lawsuit against Fortune 100 manufacturer regarding quality of manufactured products and business torts.
  • Represented master tenant of Canon City, CO property in trial against property owner regarding eviction of master tenant.
  • Represented Utah-based software company in federal lawsuit in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida relating to patent troll's interference with software company's business relationships.
  • Represented Colorado-based medical device manufacturer in federal antitrust lawsuit against Fortune 500 company.
  • Represented developer in multi-party lawsuit between developer, city, and major sports organization relating to counterparties' attempts to walk away from real estate project involving tens of millions of dollars.
  • Represented hospitality company in successful arbitration regarding "business divorce."
  • Represented law firm in internal investigation to determine if partner was retained by Colombian drug cartel.

  • Represented publicly traded E&P company regarding general business disputes with vendors, patent prosecution, royalty compliance issues, and general business matters.
  • Represented Colorado-based E&P company in dispute relating to claim for tens of millions of dollars in royalties.
  • Represented Colorado-based E&P company in lawsuit regarding demand for payment of royalties in Pinedale Anticline.
