James represents clients in a variety of real estate and business matters.

James focuses on the intellectual property practice area, including patents, trademarks, copyrights, trade secrets, and related areas. His experience includes prosecuting patent and trademark applications for numerous types of consumer products, healthcare systems, medical devices and methods, software methods, industrial processing systems and methods, electrical devices and materials processing methods; performing patent searches and drafting patentability and infringement opinions; drafting, reviewing and negotiating licensing agreements, confidentiality agreements, website development agreements, website terms of use and asset purchase agreements. James also has substantial experience in assisting clients with protecting and enforcing their intellectual property rights via methods other than litigation, such as take-down notices, domain name dispute proceedings, and other related methods.

James' work also includes representing clients in forming their businesses from the startup phase through the entire lifecycle of the business, including ownership changes, financing transactions, mergers, and acquisitions. James assists clients in negotiating and enforcing contracts covering all aspects of their business. Typical projects in which James provides assistance to businesses include entity formation, drafting of corporate bylaws, resolutions, operating agreements and other corporate documents, and stock purchase agreements, asset purchase agreements, promissory notes, guarantees, and security agreements, among others.

James also has extensive experience in real estate sale contract and lease negotiations and documentation, zoning and land use proceedings, planned developments, condominium creation, development agreement negotiations, real estate financing, and various tax credits. James has represented parties in many commercial real estate transactions across the country, including selling, purchasing, financing, leasing, developing or otherwise managing commercial real estate assets.
