As a member of the Firm’s Commercial Litigation Department, Jeff handles complex litigation matters for diverse clientele, including major financial institutions, mortgage companies, product manufacturers, small businesses, municipalities, insurance companies, global technology corporations and a national health club. He has extensive trial, arbitration and mediation experience.
Jeff has defended claims nationwide for a number of national mortgage servicers brought under a variety of state and federal consumer protection statutes, including TILA, RESPA, HOEPA, FCRA and claims arising under the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and the California Homeowners Bill of Rights. For the same entities, he handled repurchase litigation, forced place insurance litigation, code violations in the banking and municipal context, eminent domain matters, quiet title actions, lien priority litigation, claims for accounting and escrow violations and litigated matters involving fraud, unfair business practices, predatory lending and breach of fiduciary duty.
In addition to the foregoing representation, Jeff regularly represented governmental entities in matters relating to contracts, land use, employment litigation, product liability litigation, civil rights claims and claims for dangerous conditions of public property. For many years, Jeff has represented a national bank and national health club in all aspects of litigation including, but not limited to, business operations, retail operations, product liability claims, employment claims, security claims and catastrophic injury and wrongful death claims.
During his 30 year career, Jeff has represented clients in more than 1500 matters throughout the State of California and in other states throughout the country. During this period of time, he has mediated hundreds of cases and currently serves as a panel mediator for the U.S. District Court, Central District of California. Beyond handling day-to-day cases for his varied client base, Jeff is also a counselor to his clients. He routinely provides in-house seminars on risk management, risk avoidance and changes and trends in the law in order to keep his clients at the forefront of an ever evolving legal marketplace.
Over the course of his career, Jeff has been the lead partner on more than 50 appellate matters before the California Courts of Appeal and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.
