Minnesota Lawyer has recognized two attorneys from Kutak Rock in its inaugural Minnesota Legal 250 publication honoring attorneys making a significant impact across the state of Minnesota. The publication highlights attorneys selected through a combination of public nominations and editorial research conducted by Minnesota Lawyer staff. According to Minnesota Lawyer, the project was created to recognize attorneys making a difference in our state across 16 categories.

Jennifer Forbes

Kutak Rock partner Jennifer Forbes has spent more than 35 years advising physicians, health systems, nonprofits, and healthcare-related businesses on complex regulatory and transactional matters.

She serves as outside general counsel to hospitals and integrated health systems, physician groups and other provider groups, counseling clients on medical staff bylaws, provider services agreements, Medicare and Medicaid billing compliance, Stark Law, Anti-Kickback Statute issues, and HIPAA and HITECH requirements.

Her transactional practice includes the formation of integrated delivery systems, ambulatory surgery center arrangements, mergers, reorganizations and physician-hospital joint ventures. Jennifer brings a compliance-informed approach to transactions, working to align business objectives with healthcare regulatory requirements.

In addition, Jennifer advises nonprofit organizations on formation, governance, tax-exempt status, mergers and compliance matters unique to nonprofit entities, rounding out a practice that spans both operational and strategic healthcare law.

Tim Keane

Real estate attorney Tim Keane was recognized for a career spanning more than 35 years in commercial real estate law, land use and development, public law and eminent domain.

Tim arrived at real estate law by an unconventional path that gives him a professional edge few attorneys can replicate. Before earning his law degree, Tim built a career as an urban planner, earning a master’s degree in urban planning, serving as director of planning for the city of Shakopee, and working as a planner for the cities of Coon Rapids and Tucson, Arizona. That foundation informs every aspect of his legal practice.

Tim focuses on commercial real estate law, transactions, land use and development, public law and eminent domain. He served as general counsel to municipalities throughout Minnesota, advising on zoning, variances, conditional use permits and public development projects, while also representing developers, property owners and nonprofits in acquisitions, dispositions, financing and entitlement approvals.

Among his notable matters, Tim served as eminent domain and real estate counsel for the land assembly supporting the Target Field ballpark project. He also serves as a condemnation commissioner for Hennepin County District Court.
