Matthias Edrich and Robert Henderson to Speak at NABL’s The Essentials 2025 Conference
News | May 14, 2025Kutak Rock partners Matthias Edrich and Robert Henderson will serve as speakers at The Essentials 2025, the National Association of Bond Lawyers’ (NABL) premier foundational conference for new bond attorneys and municipal market professionals. The conference will be held May 14–16, 2025, at the Kansas City Marriott Downtown in Kansas City, Missouri.
Matthias Edrich will present at the “General Tax Law” session on Wednesday, May 14, from 2:45–4:15 p.m. This session will provide an introduction to the federal tax laws governing municipal bonds and is designed to equip attendees with essential knowledge for navigating tax compliance in public finance transactions.
Robert Henderson will participate in the “Arbitrage and Rebate” session on Thursday, May 15, from 10:15 – 11:30 a.m. This session will provide an overview of general arbitrage concepts, arbitrage rebate requirements, and the application of the various exceptions to the arbitrage rebate rules.
The Essentials is designed for bond attorneys and municipal market participants new to the field, offering a comprehensive introduction to the key areas of bond law, including tax, securities, and structuring. Matthias advises clients on tax structuring of municipal and corporate debt transactions and financing-related section 501(c)(3) exemption matters. He has represented bank lenders and capital markets underwriters, government and corporate issuers, student loan lenders, large hospital systems, housing developers, energy and solid waste recycling companies, manufacturers and various types of section 501(c)(3) nonprofits.
Robert concentrates on tax matters associated with multifamily housing finance, qualified mortgage bonds, and other tax-exempt bond deals in both primary market issuance and secondary market purchase and securitization transactions. He also focuses on tax-compliant structuring for issuers and purchasers of debt obligations as well as related derivatives. He has substantial experience as special counsel to lenders for the acquisition and documentation of interest rate hedges in multifamily housing transactions.
