Kutak Rock associate London Burns has been named one of the top 50 pro bono attorneys in the State of Arizona by the Arizona Foundation for Legal Services & Education for her work with the Volunteer Lawyers Program (VLP). The award recognizes attorneys who have “tirelessly given their time and expertise to assist Arizonans who would otherwise have no legal resources.”

Ms. Burns, who is based in the firm’s Scottsdale office, has been involved with VLP for nearly 10 years and has become the office’s liaison, circulating and coordinating opportunities among her colleagues. She has also personally assisted numerous clients with guardianship matters.

“The most rewarding thing about doing pro bono work is the appreciation from the clients,” she said. “Doing something that directly affects the community and families who desperately need the help makes me feel like a ‘real’ lawyer.”

Ms. Burns primarily practices in the area of public finance, especially as it relates to charter school financing. Her practice involves providing services as bond counsel, issuer’s counsel, borrower’s counsel, and disclosure counsel in various public finance transactions. In addition to this award, Ms. Burns has also earned the VLP’s For the Love of Justice Pro Bono Award in 2014; VLP’s Attorney of the Month in October 2015; and has been listed among “Ones to Watch” in The Best Lawyers in America^© in 2021-2023.
