Kutak Rock Earns Career Champion Award From Arkansas Law Alumni Society

News | September 03, 2021

The University of Arkansas School of Law Alumni Society Board has chosen Kutak Rock to receive the Career Champion Award for Large Firms as part of its 2021 Commitment to Justice and Career Champion awards.

The awards were created to recognize individuals and organizations who, through personal achievement and service to the community and the university, bring national and local prominence to themselves and the University of Arkansas School of Law.

The Board cited Kutak Rock’s dedication to “enhancing legal education and providing opportunities for students to work within the firm,” specifically through the Doc Talk series with the law school’s Business Law Society. The Doc Talk series, begun five years ago, brings attorneys into the classroom several times per semester to review typical business legal documents and real-world examples that directly relate to materials being studied. The firm also provides lunch for the students participating in Doc Talks. In addition, Kutak Rock hosts the Summer Pre-Law Program (SPPARK) and sponsors travel for the Transactional Competition Team.

Kutak Rock is a financial supporter of the law school through the Nicholas J. Alexander Memorial Scholarship Endowment for students who demonstrate academic excellence and community involvement. Mr. Alexander was an associate at the firm when he passed away unexpectedly.

“Nick’s sudden passing was tragic and a major blow, as we lost a friend, a team member and a great lawyer. His namesake scholarship is a way to honor him, keep his memory alive, and give back to our community—Nick’s community—at the University of Arkansas School of Law,” said David McDaniel, corporate department chair in the firm’s Little Rock office, who helped establish the endowment.

The Law Alumni Society Board will recognize the 2021 and 2022 award recipients at the Awards Dinner in April 2022 during the School of Law Alumni Reunion Weekend.
