Kansas City litigation partner M. Courtney Koger has been recognized by the Missouri Lawyers’ Assistance Program (MOLAP) for her work in the field of chemical dependency, recovery and compassionate care for impaired female lawyers in the state. She received the Dorothy Kaiser Award Nov. 6 at the 2020 Missouri Lawyers’ Assistance Conference.

“Attorneys have historically suffered from increased levels of chemical dependency and addiction, in addition to mental health issues. The pandemic has negatively impacted those statistics and placed a heavier burden on women in particular,” said Ms. Koger. “Addiction does not discriminate based on gender, and neither should recovery.”

Ms. Koger has served on the Supreme Court of Missouri Intervention Committee since 2018. In addition to serving as a role model and monitor for new lawyers, she also personally offers peer support to lawyers in crisis.

At Kutak Rock Ms. Koger focuses her practice on insurance coverage and business litigation, including employment, IP and contract disputes. She also focuses on appellate practice.

MOLAP is a professional, confidential counseling program for members of The Missouri Bar, immediate family members who reside with them, and law students. Through a variety of free services, MOLAP helps individuals overcome personal concerns such as substance use, depression, stress and burnout.
