News - Press Release | November 28, 2018

Kutak Rock is one of three firms selected by The Illinois State Toll Highway Authority (the "Tollway") to serve as bond counsel for a term of five years beginning January 1, 2019.

The Tollway system presently consists of approximately 296 miles of limited-access highway in twelve counties in the northern part of Illinois. It is an integral part of the expressway system in northern Illinois and the U.S. Interstate Highway System. In August 2011, the Tollway approved a fifteen-year, $12 billion capital improvement plan known as the “Move Illinois” Program. Kutak Rock’s selection will further the implementation of the Program.

Our national transportation practice group has provided legal counsel to state transportation authorities across the country in connection with more than 270 tax-exempt or taxable financings, aggregating more than $36.1 billion. We are extremely excited to roll up our sleeves and assist the toll payers of the state of Illinois,” said Lance Tyson, a partner in the firm’s Chicago office.

Kutak Rock attorneys Lance Tyson, Jeff Blumenfeld, Michael Thomas and Matthias Edrich will serve as bond counsel in connection with all transactions under the contract.
