Join us for our annual CLE-qualifying Compliance Seminar for banking, broker-dealer and registered investment adviser professionals, December 4, 2023 at the Kutak Rock Omaha Office - The Omaha Building - 1650 Farnam Street, Omaha, NE 68102.

Artificial intelligence (AI) and crypto are changing everything, and banks and other financial services firms are racing to keep up. In this seminar, Kutak Rock’s lawyers will address select regulatory and other considerations related to AI and crypto and their impact on the industry. Panel: The Coming AI Revolution: The Legal Concerns for Banks and Other Financial Services Firms. The panel will address emerging legal, regulatory, and ethical risks and requirements relevant to AI, focusing primarily on the financial services industry.

Winter is Coming: Crypto Regulation and Enforcement in the US.  Bryan and Jeff will provide an overview of key issues being battled out as crypto regulation advances in the United States.

Finally, New Rules: CRA and 1071.  Bryan and Jeff have dived into the thousands of pages of long-awaited (1) amendments to the Community Reinvestment Act rules and (2) Consumer Financial Protection Bureau’s final rule to implement Section 1071 of the Dodd-Frank Act and will share their thoughts on aspects of the new rules that financial services professionals may be most interested in.

Lessons Learned from Recent Criminal and Regulatory Actions in the Financial World.   From the Securities and Exchange Commission’s record high enforcement activity, to policing of AML activity by numerous agencies, to the criminal prosecutions of Elizabeth Holmes, Sam Bankman-Fried and others, the enforcement landscape continues to change and bring new challenges to the financial industry.   We address key recent regulatory and criminal actions and provide an overview of steps the industry can take to mitigate the risk of becoming the subject of such actions and proactively stay ahead of regulatory trends.

Attorney-Client Privilege in Financial Services Transactions (Ethics Credit)   Attorney-client privilege is broadly understood, but the intricacies of the privilege, particularly in the transactional context, may be overlooked.  In particular, the privilege is often implicated when planning for and negotiating business transactions.  We address key considerations related to the privilege outside of litigation and in litigation arising from business transactions, including the common interest privilege, risks of waiver, and approaches for avoiding waiver. 


We are applying for six (6) CLE credits including one (1) ethics credit for Nebraska and Iowa.
