A Focus on Organic Agriculture, by Joseph O. Kavan (Partner, Kutak Rock) and Lee F. Sachnoff (Partner, Kutak Rock)

Kutak Rock senior partners Joe Kavan and Lee Sachnoff will present a comprehensive session on organic agriculture. They will outline the requirements to become certified organic in crops, livestock and dairy. Kavan and Sachnoff then will address the law as it applies to organic agriculture, including the law on organic labeling, and legal issues relating to trade and international sales. The presentation will conclude by addressing some challenges and primary risks for producers and entities involved with organic agriculture.

Charles Dickens and the Art of Agribusiness Finance, by Joyce A. Dixon (Senior Counsel, Kutak Rock)
 
“It was the best of times, it was the worst of times ...” Kutak Rock Senior Counsel Joyce Dixon has assembled a panel of lenders, borrowers and counsel from numerous aspects of the agricultural industry who will discuss the best opportunities and worst challenges in today’s transitional finance environment. The panel will focus on topics such as varying borrowing opportunities, the impact of technology, current credit analyses, creative workout solutions, intercreditor arrangements and litigation bombshells.

Agricultural Law Update, by Brian C. Buescher (Partner, Kutak Rock)
 
Brian Buescher, Kutak Rock partner and leader of the firm’s Agriculture Litigation Group, will provide an update on legal issues facing agriculture in 2017, including an update and discussion of the potential impact the new presidential administration’s regulation. He also will provide an update on lawsuits and decisions impacting agriculture, including the Syngenta corn litigation cases and the Beef Products, Inc. “pink slime” case settlement in South Dakota.
