Ellen represents real estate developers and investors in affordable housing projects, including HOPE VI and other mixed-finance projects.

Ellen's practice encompasses structuring and syndicating affordable housing projects with tax-exempt bonds, historic tax credits, state credits, and Low Income Housing Tax Credits. Her experience also includes loan workouts, foreclosures and restructuring of partnership interests for projects financed with and without Low Income Housing Tax Credits.

  • Represented a tax credit investor on four-phase HOPE VI transaction in Atlanta, with approximately $18 million in tax credits allocated to the overall project.
  • Represented a tax credit investor on two-phase HOPE VI transactions in Los Angeles, with approximately $52 million in tax credits allocated to the overall project.
  • Represented a tax credit investor on three-phase HOPE VI transaction in Minneapolis, with approximately $19 million in tax credits allocated to the overall project.
  • Represented a developer on the 31-unit Buerger Brothers Apartments in Denver, which were financed with tax-exempt bonds, historic credits and low-income tax credits.
  • Represented a developer on the 37-unit Clocktower Lofts in Denver, which were financed with a Section 108 HUD loan, historic credits and low-income tax credits.
  • Represented a tax credit investor on a transaction in the Virgin Islands that was allocated over $26 million in tax credits.
  • Represented a tax credit investor on a transaction in Maryland that was allocated $22 million in tax credits.
  • Represented a nonprofit developer on a 48-unit transaction that served special-needs clients and was financed in part with Low Income Housing Tax Credits.
