Lukas advises clients on a broad range of intellectual property matters, including patent and trademark prosecution, brand protection, intellectual property enforcement and related commercial transactions.
His practice includes assisting with preparing and prosecuting patent applications before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), including patent application drafting, responding to office actions, and assisting clients throughout the patent prosecution process. Lukas also supports clients in developing and protecting intellectual property portfolios across a variety of industries.
Lukas regularly assists clients with trademark selection, clearance, prosecution and enforcement. He has experience preparing and prosecuting trademark applications, responding to USPTO office actions, defending and opposing trademark proceedings before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board, and advising clients on strategies to protect and strengthen their brands. His brand protection work also includes monitoring and enforcing intellectual property rights online, including addressing infringing marketplace listings and pursuing domain name disputes under the Uniform Domain-Name Dispute-Resolution Policy (UDRP).
In addition, Lukas assists clients with intellectual property disputes and enforcement matters, including trademark and patent litigation support, demand letters, settlement negotiations, legal research, motion practice and discovery. He also has experience supporting intellectual property licensing, commercial transactions and intellectual property due diligence in connection with business acquisitions and other corporate transactions.
While attending law school, Lukas was a member of the team that won the 2024 USPTO National Patent Application Drafting Competition, a nationwide competition that challenges law students to prepare and prosecute patent applications based on emerging technologies.
