Kutak Rock is pleased to congratulate Omaha-based attorney Brett M. Bruneteau on being named to the Midlands Business Journal’s 40 Under 40 class.

The annual recognition celebrates emerging leaders who are making meaningful contributions to their professions and communities. Brett’s selection reflects a career defined by business insight, leadership and a longstanding commitment to Omaha.

A member of the firm’s Business, Corporate and Securities practice, Brett advises clients on mergers and acquisitions, corporate strategy, venture capital, private equity, capital markets and securities matters. Though still early in his legal career, he has already advised on more than 50 transactions across a range of industries, including telecommunications, agriculture, financial services, technology, manufacturing, energy and healthcare.

Brett’s approach to client service is shaped by experience beyond the practice of law. Before joining Kutak Rock, he held marketing and business-development roles with the Philadelphia Flyers organization and the United States Premier Hockey League, where he worked on strategic partnerships, revenue development, youth hockey initiatives, charitable events and community engagement. He also supported major events and venue programming in the fast-paced sports and entertainment industry.

Brett is also an entrepreneur in his own right. While studying business at the University of North Dakota, he founded a tech startup. That firsthand experience gives him a practical appreciation for the challenges founders and business owners face as they pursue growth, manage risk and make consequential decisions.

Brett’s professional achievements have also earned national recognition. He was named to The Best Lawyers in America® “Ones to Watch” list in 2025 and 2026 for his work in mergers and acquisitions and corporate law. In 2025, his peers elected him to serve as Kutak Rock’s Associate Representative, a role in which he helped foster communication, collaboration and professional development across the firm. Furthermore, he was also selected for Leadership Omaha Class 47, reflecting his commitment to civic engagement and Omaha’s continued growth.

Brett is equally committed to developing the next generation of professionals and leaders. He regularly works with and mentors law students and young business professionals from across the region, and he helps competitive youth hockey players develop their skills on and off the ice.

Hockey has long been central to Brett’s life. A former NCAA Division I men’s ice hockey player, he was drafted by the Washington Capitals in the fourth round of the 2007 NHL Entry Draft and competed internationally with Team USA. Today, he serves on the Omaha Lancers Foundation non-profit board, where he focuses his time on advancing youth hockey in the area. His deep roots in the Omaha hockey community, combined with his experience as an athlete, entrepreneur, business professional and attorney, shape the disciplined, collaborative and practical perspective he brings to his work and his community.

Please join us in congratulating Brett on this well-deserved honor.
