Jason Kotlyarov to Speak on HIPAA Compliance Pitfalls at CLE Program

Jason Kotlyarov of Kutak Rock will serve as a featured speaker during an upcoming continuing legal education program focused on HIPAA compliance and data privacy issues affecting attorneys and other professionals.

The program, “Get the Basics Down,” offers a practical overview of core HIPAA requirements, recent enforcement and litigation developments, and strategies for responding to data breaches. The event is designed for attorneys, with HR professionals, accountants and paralegals also expected to attend.

Kotlyarov will present the session “Compliance Pitfalls to Avoid,” covering common HIPAA mistakes organizations face, including failing to implement required business associate agreements, inadequate controls for protected health information, improper disposal of health records, insufficient employee training and incomplete risk assessments.

His participation reflects Kutak Rock’s continued commitment to helping clients navigate evolving privacy, cybersecurity and regulatory compliance matters.

Jason focuses his practice on providing full-service representation to employee benefit plans, plan sponsors and fiduciaries, which includes issues pertaining to governance, compliance, amendment/policy review and drafting and litigation. He regular trains clients and speaks on a variety of employee benefits issues including fiduciary responsibilities, ERISA, COBRA clients, mental health parity and HIPAA compliance for welfare plans. He also drafts and negotiates service agreements and business associate agreements for employee benefit plans; prepares plan-related documents, employee communications, and HIPAA policies and procedures; and counsels clients on benefit plan design and administration issues.
