Jason Kotlyarov, an attorney in Kutak Rock’s Kansas City office, recently presented at the 49th Annual Midwestern Apprenticeship and Training Coordinators Conference, held October 2, 2025, in Lake Ozark, Missouri. His presentation addressed the legal ramifications associated with operating a Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee (JATC) and highlighted the fiduciary responsibilities of training directors and coordinators.
In recognition of his contributions, Jason was honored with the conference’s President’s Award, underscoring his dedication to supporting apprenticeship and training programs through his legal work and expertise.
Jason focuses his practice on providing full-service representation to employee benefit plans, plan sponsors and fiduciaries, which includes issues pertaining to governance, compliance, amendment/policy review and drafting and litigation. He is one of the few attorneys in the nation who specializes in representing registered apprenticeship plans, including standards and policy review, program compliance with applicable Department of Labor and state apprenticeship laws, advising on complex prohibited transactions issues unique to apprenticeship plans, scholarship loans, employment law issues and more.
