Kutak Rock Partner Jay Jackson to Participate in Nebraska College of Law Event

Kutak Rock Partner Jay Jackson will join a distinguished panel at the University of Nebraska College of Law on October 29, 2024, for a timely discussion titled “Disagreeing Better: Fostering Meaningful Civic Conversations.” The event, part of the Inclusive Leadership Fellows Program, aims to address the growing challenges of political polarization and its impact on civil discourse in both legal practice and broader society.

The panel, moderated by Professor and Associate Dean Anthony Schutz, will also feature Nebraska State Treasurer Tom Briese, Nebraska State Senator Wendy DeBoer, and Professor Kristen Blankley. Together, they will explore strategies for promoting thoughtful conversations and constructive civic engagement around contentious issues, with the goal of fostering understanding and community-building across political divides.

The lecture is approved for 1.0 continuing education credit in Nebraska, including 1.0 hour of ethics.

Jay serves as counsel to municipal issuers, underwriters, and lenders all in connection with the issuance of municipal bonds and other obligations. In such capacities he focuses on financing affordable multifamily housing. In addition, Jay acts as special counsel to lenders for the acquisition and documentation of interest rate caps in multifamily housing transactions. Prior to assuming these roles, Jay served on active duty in the United States Air Force for fourteen years, earning a master of laws in international law and deploying to the Middle East six times. He continues to serve as a lieutenant colonel in the Air Force Reserve.
