Kutak Rock Chair John Petr Appointed to the Greater Omaha Chamber Board of Directors

Kutak Rock Chair John Petr has been appointed to serve on the Greater Omaha Chamber Board of Directors for a two-year term beginning in 2024. The announcement was made by the 2023 Board Nominating Committee on November 15, 2023. Members of the Greater Omaha Chamber Board of Directors invest their time, resources and expertise to support the Chamber, its members and its mission—to increase business, investment and employment in Greater Omaha.

“Being a Director of the Greater Omaha Chamber is not just a title; it’s an opportunity to collaborate with our community’s extraordinary civic leaders to preserve and promote Omaha’s underappreciated advantages as a home for businesses and for the people who make them successful,” said Petr. 

John is a third-generation Omahan. He has worked alongside his Kutak Rock colleagues for more than 36 years and currently serves as Chair of the firm. He previously served for two years as Vice Chair of Kutak Rock. Over his career, John has built valuable relationships and gained a deep understanding of the local business landscape. Equally important, he’s gained a keen understanding of Omaha’s extraordinary advantages as a place to build a home and raise a family.

John practices in the Omaha Public Finance Department and has represented issuers, credit enhancers, lenders and underwriters in connection with taxable and tax-exempt financings in the housing, military housing, higher education, electric energy and project finance sectors. He has always worked with national and international teams of business professionals on innovative transactions leveraging private capital to achieve public objectives. He has worked as a member and leader of Kutak Rock attorney teams to address structuring and operational issues touching on a broad range of legal disciplines, including tax, real estate, securities regulation, bankruptcy, government contracting and environmental law.
