Kutak Rock Partner Matthias Edrich to Moderate Panels at the ABA’s Mid-Year Tax Conference

On January 19, Kutak Rock Partner Matthias Edrich will moderate the Spending Exceptions to the Arbitrage Rebate Rule and the Unrelated Trade or Business Activities of 501(c)(3) Borrowers panels as part of the ABA’s Mid-Year Tax Conference. The conference is being held at the Hyatt Regency in San Francisco from Thursday, January 18 through Saturday, January 20.

This year, Edrich is serving as the Chair of the Tax-Exempt Finance Committee of the Tax Section of the American Bar Association. As part of his role, he organized the three Tax-Exempt Financing panels that will take place on Friday, January 19:

  1. Inflation Reduction Act Credits and You – 3:00 p.m. PST
  2. The Spending Exceptions to the Arbitrage Rebate Rule* – 4:00 p.m. PST
  3. Unrelated Trade or Business Activities of 501(c)(3) Borrowers* – 5:00 p.m. PST

Matthias advises clients on tax structuring of municipal and corporate debt transactions and financing-related section 501(c)(3) exemption matters. He represents clients ranging from lenders and underwriters and government and corporate issuers to large hospital systems, housing developers, energy and solid waste recycling companies, manufacturers and various types of section 501(c)(3) nonprofits. Particular areas of focus include hospital financings, airport financings and economic development financings relating to special districts, special benefit districts, community improvement districts and community development districts throughout the country. He currently serves as the Treasurer of the Board of Directors of the National Association of Bond Lawyers and is also serving on the Executive Committee of the Association.
