Niki Cung Receives Darby Award for Meritorious Service

News | October 06, 2022

Niki Cung, a partner in the firm’s Fayetteville office, recently was presented with the General William O. Darby Memorial Award for meritorious service on behalf of the Ranger Battalions Association of World War II (WWII). The association, also known as the Descendants of WWII Rangers, Inc., is made up of families of WWII Rangers appointed to preserve the history of the men who served.

Last year, the assets of the Darby Foundation were in peril. The executive director was in failing health and the group needed a strong attorney to help place someone else in charge. Through the national Ranger community, Ms. Cung was found. Her motion to name the executive director’s daughter the new Executive Director of the Darby Foundation was approved by the Circuit Court in Fort Smith. This made it possible to save and electronically scan the Foundation’s records and files, most dating back several decades.

The Darby Award was instituted to recognize exceptional service to the Ranger Battalions. Few have ever been given out, and mostly to Rangers or their spouses. The Descendants voted unanimously to award Ms. Cung.

Niki Cung has 25 years of experience in commercial litigation and complex insurance defense. She advocates for clients in jury and bench trials involving a variety of claims, including contract, construction defect, product liability, wrongful death and personal injury, professional liability and malicious prosecution.
