News | July 24, 2019

The U.S. Senate confirmed Brian C. Buescher, a partner in Kutak Rock’s Omaha office, as U.S. District Court Judge for the District of Nebraska on Wednesday afternoon.
Mr. Buescher was nominated by President Donald Trump in October 2018 at the recommendation of U.S. Senators Deb Fischer (R-Neb.) and Ben Sasse (R-Neb.). Mr. Buescher expects to take the oath of office and begin his service as Judge in a few weeks.

“Brian’s success as a counselor to our clients, extensive litigation experience and commitment to public service has prepared him to be an outstanding judge,” said Mike Curry, Managing Partner of Kutak Rock’s Omaha office. “He will serve the people of Nebraska well. We will miss working with him on a daily basis but he will always be our friend and colleague. We congratulate him on this momentous occasion.”

“It is a tremendous honor to serve on the bench for the District of Nebraska,” Buescher remarked. “I am grateful to my Kutak Rock colleagues for their support over the last two decades. I would like to thank Senator Deb Fischer and Senator Ben Sasse for their support of my nomination. I would also like to thank President Trump for nominating me to this important position.”

Brian Buescher leads the firm’s agribusiness litigation team and represented local and national clients in general commercial litigation. He has served as the Chair of both the Nebraska Bar Association’s Agricultural and Environmental Law Sections, and is an active member of the Omaha community, serving on the Board of Directors of the Downtown Omaha YMCA. He received his B.A. from the University of Nebraska and his J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center.
