Kutak Rock attorney Dwyer Arce was profiled in a Thanksgiving Day article in The Daily Nonpareil. The article, titled “Giving thanks by giving back: Micah House board member, volunteer practices law, altruism,” profiles Dwyer’s work as a member of the Board of Directors and volunteer at MICAH House, a family emergency shelter in Council Bluffs, Iowa.

Dwyer has been volunteering with MICAH House multiple times a week since May 2017. His volunteer work focuses on the Buddy Program, where children age seven and younger engage in trauma-informed play with volunteers while their parents attend job skills and budgeting classes provided by the shelter.

According to the profile, Dwyer learned of the program through a newspaper article and initially intended to volunteer once a week, but soon found himself volunteering multiple times a week instead. Dwyer was later invited to join MICAH House’s Board of Directors, which he did in September 2017. Though time to volunteer isn’t always easy to come by, Dwyer explained he is grateful that “Kutak Rock has supported his pro bono work and community service.”

Dwyer is an attorney in the Omaha office’s litigation group. His practice covers a wide range of substantive areas of law in litigation nationwide. This has included serving as counsel of record before the United States Supreme Court and presenting argument before the full United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit sitting en banc. Dwyer also maintains a pro bono practice providing legal services to non-profit entities and serves as a mentor to a child facing adversity in the Omaha community through Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Midlands.
