Kutak Rock partner Andrew King has always loved trivia games, but hasn’t been involved in competitive trivia since high school. At the urging of his wife and after completing four online tests over a two year period, King was contacted to audition for Jeopardy! in Houston last December. At the audition, 20 contestants completed a timed 50-question test and a simulated competition with a surprise appearance by Jeopardy! host Alex Trebek.
Out of thousands of applicants, only 400 are chosen to compete on the show each year. To prepare for the highly competitive audition, King did a lot of research about the best ways to study and the best topics to study. He focused on a range of topics including geography, Shakespeare, U.S. presidents, U.S. national parks and the periodic table. His hard work paid off. King was chosen to compete on Jeopardy! and will tape the show in mid-February in Los Angeles. Should he keep winning, he will return for more competition and taping. King’s show will air sometime the week of June 25-29.
