Kutak Rock served as Bond Counsel to the City of Los Angeles in connection with the financing of construction of El Segundo Apartments, a 75-unit apartment project. The facility will house 25 chronically homeless veterans through support from the Department of Veterans Affairs Supportive Housing (HUD-VASH) program. In addition to housing, the facility will provide residents and other area veterans with case management and clinical services through the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).
In Los Angeles, veterans comprise approximately 3% of the general population, but make up about 11% of the homeless population. Since January 2014 the city has housed over 6,000 homeless veterans—more veterans housed than Salt Lake City, Houston, Phoenix and New Orleans combined.
Kutak Rock attorneys Toger Swanson and Michelle Pernicek worked on the El Segundo project.
