Kutak Rock congratulates client Origis Energy, LLC for being part of a unique and significant solar transaction involving Alabama Power and a large national/international retail chain. Under the deal approved by the Alabama Public Service Commission, the retailer will receive the environmental benefits of a 72-megawatt solar energy facility to be built and operated by an Origis subsidiary. Origis has a long-term contract under which it will sell the energy and environmental attributes from the solar facility to Alabama Power, who in turn has contracted with the retailer.

Construction of the $140 million solar facility will begin later this year, and the facility is expected to be fully operational by the end of 2017. The project is expected to generate approximately 125 jobs during construction.
