Community Involvement

Our commitment to giving back through volunteer time and financial contributions runs through every level of Kutak Rock, from executive management to support staff, and is one of the pillars of our firm’s value system. Here are a few of our programs.

At Kutak Rock, our pipeline outreach programs aren’t about checking off a box to fulfill arbitrary goals. Rather, they were born out of attorney and staff concerns about young people who might not have positive exposure and access to law firms or the legal profession, let alone consider law as a career.

Held in our Richmond and Omaha offices, Law Day is an annual program for urban youth to tour our offices and speak with attorneys, paralegals and other legal professionals about their careers. The day often includes behind-the-scenes tours of local courthouses, discussions with judges and federal marshals.

Kutak Rock Cares

After decades of philanthropic activity, KutakCares was borne out of a desire by firm members to coordinate relief for the people of Puerto Rico in 2017 after they were hit by several hurricanes. Since then, it’s fulfilled its mission through a variety of firmwide and office-specific giving opportunities including an annual event at the firm’s partnership meeting for a local children’s nonprofit in the community in which the meeting is being held. Most recently, KutakCares donated supplies to organizations in Omaha, New Orleans, Scottsdale, San Diego, and Chicago. The group has also raised money for flood victims and people affected by food insecurity due to the pandemic. The firm often matches KutakCares’ efforts.

Community Leadership

Since the founding of Kutak Rock, our attorneys have had a deep commitment to giving back to our communities by serving on more than 100 boards of directors across the country for children’s organizations, free legal clinics including Legal Aid, alumni and college associations, youth orchestras, community development nonprofits, policy centers, and medical research nonprofits, among others.

Giving Back

Each of our offices organize a variety of adopt-a-family gift programs during the holidays, coordinating clothing and food drives for homeless shelters, urban schools, reservations, and veterans groups, participating in fundraising walks, rides and drives, and sponsoring nonprofit events.
