Ashton focuses her practice on public finance matters and has significant experience advising on both taxable and tax-exempt financings including serving as disclosure counsel, bond counsel, underwriter's counsel, trustee's counsel, purchaser's counsel, lender's counsel and borrower's counsel in connection with publicly and privately offered transactions.

Ashton has worked on financings across a broad range of sectors including general government higher education community development districts and tax allocation districts. Her practice also includes experience with municipal securities, local government matters and workout transactions. 

Prior to joining Kutak Rock, Ashton developed her public finance background by assisting public school systems, cities, counties and water and sewer systems in Georgia as well as higher education institutions throughout the U.S. She also has worked with healthcare systems and affordable housing developments on projects involving new construction equipment acquisition and refinancing.
