Mariza McKee presented on the topic of EB-5 structuring and securities laws on a webcast for the Council of Development Finance Authorities in partnership with the Texas Economic Development Council on July 16, 2014. The other panelists included Peter Joseph, Executive Director of the Association to Invest in the USA (IIUSA); Drexell Owusu, Managing Director and Chief of Staff of Civitas Capital Group; and Paul Scheuren, Economist at Impact DataSource.
The EB-5 Program is a federal foreign direct investment, immigration and regional economic development program that provides access to capital to U.S. businesses and creates American jobs. Use of the program has rapidly gained momentum throughout the country in the last few years. The webcast predominately focused on use of the EB-5 Program in Texas and on the expert panel’s explanation of the basics of the program, case studies and considerations for utilizing the EB-5 Program in Texas.
McKee focuses her practice on structuring, negotiating and documenting EB-5 financings. She counsels regional centers, private equity funds, developers, lenders, borrowers and community development agencies that manage or are otherwise involved with domestic and international equity offerings seeking EB-5 investment.
