John Schembari Analyzes New Department of Labor Enforcement Priorities

Kutak Rock partner John Schembari interviewed with the Broadcast Retirement Network (BRN) to analyze the Department of Labor's (DOL) announced changes in enforcement priorities. In January, the DOL announced these new priorities and promised a cut down on class action litigation affecting plan sponsors and pledged greater enforcement activity in the following areas:

  • Cybersecurity
  • Plan sponsors and fiduciaries monitoring service providers
  • Plan distributions
  • Retirement asset management
  • Barriers to mental health and substance abuse disorder benefits

John analyzed the impact of these new enforcement priorities on employers and steps they may take to be prepared for future investigations.
