Kutak Rock is pleased to announce that Jennifer A. Simmons will join the firm as a transition partner in the Tax and Tax Credits Group on March 20.

Jennifer brings more than 20 years of experience advising clients on complex real estate, corporate and finance transactions, with a particular focus on tax-advantaged structures. She represents lenders, investors, community development entities, developers and nonprofit organizations in transactions involving a wide range of debt and equity financing tools, including new markets tax credits, historic tax credits and opportunity zone investments.

Jennifer has extensive experience guiding clients through all phases of the tax credit finance lifecycle from initial planning and structuring through negotiation, documentation, and post-closing compliance, as well as restructurings and workouts. Her work spans a diverse array of projects, including healthcare facilities, manufacturing and production sites, residential and mixed-use developments, charter schools, community facilities, retail centers and cultural institutions.

In addition to her tax credit practice, Jennifer regularly represents institutional lenders in construction, term and revolving loan transactions, as well as buyers, sellers and investors in real estate acquisitions and dispositions.

Jennifer earned her J.D., Order of the Coif, from the University of Missouri School of Law and her B.S. in Finance and Banking, summa cum laude, from the University of Missouri. She is admitted to practice in Missouri and Illinois.

Jennifer is an active member of the Missouri and Illinois Bar Associations, serves on the Regional Advisory Board of Central Bank, and is a member of the Novogradac New Markets Tax Credit Working Group. Jennifer also serves on the board of The Glennon Guild, supporting SSM Health Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital.
