Alongside state and business leaders, Matt discussed Issue 3 (SJR15), a proposed constitutional amendment that would enhance the economic development powers of local governments by allowing tax increment financing within economic development districts. The panel provided chamber professionals, economic development organizations and entrepreneurs with insight into how Issue 3 will benefit communities, level the regional playing field, and create new incentive tools. The session also explored strategies for coalition-building and stakeholder engagement ahead of the 2026 election. - One Big Beautiful Win for Economic Development? Federal Tax Reform & The Big Beautiful Bill – What Economic Developers Need to Know
In this breakout, Matt presented on federal reform and the One Big Beautiful Bill, focusing on how these changes will affect local communities and economic development initiatives. He provided a practical overview of the legislation and its implications for economic developers working to attract investment and grow local economies.
