Aren Sharifi, an attorney in the firm’s Denver office, was recently appointed to a four-year term on the Securities and Exchange Commission’s (SEC) Small Business Capital Formation Advisory Committee.
The Committee provides advice and recommendations to the Commission on rules, regulations, and policy matters relating to small businesses, from privately held emerging companies to smaller public companies.
According to a press release, SEC Chair Gary Gensler said, “Small businesses employ nearly half of America’s workforce and make up more than 99 percent of America’s businesses. The investors, entrepreneurs, and advisors named today understand this well, and I am pleased the SEC will benefit from their perspective.”
Aren focuses his practice on corporate matters, including M&A and commercial real estate. With respect to his corporate practice, he guides clients through opportunities and obstacles their company may face, including entity formation, corporate governance, contract review, and mergers and acquisitions. On the real estate side, Aren represents clients in leasing, licensing, acquiring and selling retail, office and industrial properties.
