Kutak Rock partner Peter Barrett will be speaking at the upcoming American Bankruptcy Institute’s 2023 Southeast Bankruptcy Workshop on July 21, 2023, at 9:15 a.m. EDT.  The panel, entitled “Bridging the Gaps: Issues of First Impression in Subchapter V Cases, and How Courts and Practitioners Are Creatively Resolving Them,” will discuss the most recent subchapter V opinions and analyze how bankruptcy practitioners and courts are creatively filling subchapter V’s statutory gaps. 

The Workshop will take place at The Ritz-Carlton, Amelia Island in Amelia Island, Florida. 

The American Bankruptcy Institute (ABI) is the nation’s largest association of bankruptcy professionals, made up of over 12,000 members in multi-disciplinary roles, including attorneys, auctioneers, bankers, judges, lenders, professors, turnaround specialists, accountants and others. ABI provides members with conferences, comprehensive continuing education, effective legal research, and dynamic networking opportunities.

Mr. Barrett represents unsecured and secured creditors, trustees, lessors, equity holders and corporate debtors in insolvency matters, including Chapter 11 reorganizations, business liquidations and loan workouts. He also represents clients in connection with acquisition of distressed assets and insolvency-related litigation. Based in the Richmond, Virginia office of Kutak Rock, Mr. Barrett regularly appears in bankruptcy courts across the country to represent the interests of firm clients. He also serves as a member of the panel of Chapter 7 bankruptcy trustees for the Eastern District of Virginia, Richmond Division.
