Chris Parrington, of counsel in Kutak Rock’s Minneapolis office, will present at the 2021 Risk Management Conference in Bluffton, SC in a session titled “Cannabis in the United States in 2021” on Monday, September 13 at 4:45 p.m. EDT.

The 2021 Risk Management Conference features subject matter experts from around the country sharing the knowledge and tools needed to avoid arbitration and litigation, including partnering with best-in-class law firms, consulting firms, insurance specialists and technology companies that can provide the essential resources necessary to build businesses.

Mr. Parrington will explore whether cannabis is an essential investment option for clients by digging into cannabis legalization in the U.S. and the numerous states that have passed laws legalizing marijuana within their borders. Focusing on finances, he will discuss federal government guidance regarding the industry and marijuana-related enforcement priorities, and will discuss the legalization of hemp under federal law and its various state and federal regulatory requirements. He also will clarify how financial institutions can provide services to marijuana-related businesses and discuss the different types of investment opportunities for both marijuana and hemp.

Chris Parrington is actively involved in representing businesses and business owners in the hemp and state-legal cannabis industries throughout the U.S. He is experienced with cannabis regulation and compliance and with securities litigation, regulation and compliance. In addition, Mr. Parrington is co-chair of the firm’s national cannabis and hemp practice groups.
