On March 23 the Kansas Senate confirmed Jacy Hurst, a partner in Kutak Rock’s Kansas City office, as a Kansas Court of Appeals judge. Ms. Hurst was nominated by Kansas Governor Laura Kelly in January 2021 and will take the oath of office and begin her service as Judge this summer.
“Jacy’s breadth of experience in various types of litigation, transactional compliance and as an in-house attorney have prepared her to provide thoughtful, well-reasoned legal analysis that will benefit the Kansas Court of Appeals,” said Jay Selanders, Chair of Kutak Rock. “Jacy continues Kutak Rock’s long tradition of service to our communities and to the legal system and will serve the state of Kansas well. We are extraordinarily proud of her elevation to the bench and congratulate her on this significant occasion.”
“I am incredibly honored to have the opportunity to serve the State of Kansas as a Court of Appeals judge,” Ms. Hurst remarked. “I have spent my career helping businesses and individuals resolve complex legal issues and understand the impact of those legal issues. As a Court of Appeals judge, my highest duty will be to hear each case and apply the law, as written and uniformly.”
