Jacob Tewes to Address Legal Challenges in Drone Research and Development at GDSN

Technology attorney Jacob Tewes will speak at DroneSec’s Global Drone Security Network (GDSN) online event September 18-19. The free, virtual conference will be streamed live on YouTube. Attendees can register here ahead of time. Mr. Tewes is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. CST on September 19.

This year’s conference will focus on untapped stories, use cases, incidents and research in the area of unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) security threats, vulnerabilities, and solutions. Mr. Tewes will address the complex legal environment surrounding the counter-UAS (CUAS) industry, with a focus on research and development in the United States.

Mr. Tewes is a Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP/US) with an LL.M. in Space, Cyber, and Telecommunications Law. He helps clients ranging from multinational corporations to startups navigate complicated transactions and compliance issues, especially in the areas of privacy, security, and emerging technologies. Mr. Tewes is also a private and remote pilot with a passion for all forms of aviation. He has lectured on drone law and CUAS for law schools, state bar associations and others. Mr. Tewes is a member of the ABA Forum on Air & Space Law, as well as its Drone Law, General Aviation and Space Law Committees.
