Missouri Lawyers Media, publishers of Missouri Lawyers Weekly, held its inaugural Diversity and Inclusion Awards August 15, 2018 in St. Louis. Kutak Rock litigation attorney Marcos Barbosa was one of three presenters and also a member of the selection committee. He was invited to serve on the committee based on his previous work with the Missouri Bar Association and the Kansas City Bar Association.

The awards are meant to honor attorneys, judges, law firms, businesses and related professionals for extensive efforts in Missouri and the across the country in the areas of inclusiveness and diversity, according to Mr. Barbosa. “Basically, work done to further those principles,” he said.

With the Missouri Botanical Garden as the backdrop, 20 groups and individuals accepted awards. They were nominated by clients and colleagues, then ultimately selected by the committee. Committee members were asked to refrain from sponsoring their own law firms or businesses.
