The Denver office is a founding signatory to the Colorado Pledge to Diversity, formed in 1993 to establish attainable goals toward the enhancement of diversity in the state’s law firms. Partner Mario Trimble serves as treasurer for the Colorado-based Center for Legal Inclusiveness, formed in 2007, and is a member of the board of governors and the executive committee.

Nearly half (49%) of the firm’s attorneys are women or members of other diverse groups, and the firm enjoys a higher-than-average retention rate for women, people of color, and women of color in particular. On numerous occasions, including in 2018, the firm has been named a “Best Law Firm for Minority Attorneys.”

As noted by one long-term client in its selection of Kutak Rock as its inaugural recipient of its Diversity and Inclusion Legal Achievement Award in December 2017, Kutak Rock’s retention rates for women and minority attorneys at associate and partner levels are significantly higher than average, resulting in diverse teams of experienced attorneys available to work long-term on client matters.

The top 10 ranking is a testament to the firm’s culture and commitment to diversity and inclusion. Nationally, Kutak Rock partners with and serves organizations such as ACE Mentoring, Center for Legal Inclusiveness, Corporate Counsel of Women of Color, DRI’s Diversity for Success Seminar, Hispanic National Bar Association, Hispanic National Bar Foundation, Leadership Council on Legal Diversity, National Asian Pacific American Bar Association, National Association of Women Lawyers and National Bar Association.

Kutak Rock opened its doors in 1965 with a stated commitment to a diverse and equal opportunity work environment, making focused efforts to hire women attorneys, helping them build and create business opportunities and grow as leaders in the firm and in their communities.
