Kutak Rock Awarded Gold Standard by Women in Law Empowerment Forum (WILEF)

News | December 1, 2016

Kutak Rock recently was certified as a 2016 Women in Law Empowerment Forum (WILEF) Gold Standard firm. The WILEF Certification is given to law firms where women represent a meaningful percentage of their equity partners, of their highest leadership positions, of their governance and compensation committees, and of their most highly compensated partners.

Kutak Rock is noted for its totals of 38% women attorneys compared to the National Association for Law Placement (NALP) 2015 average of 33%; and 30% women partners, compared to the NALP 2015 average of 21%.

Law firms with 300 or more practicing lawyers in the United States are eligible for consideration for the WILEF Gold Standard Certification. For more information, please visit the Women in Law Empowerment Forum website.

Kutak Rock has a Women’s Affinity Group which most recently hosted a firmwide presentation entitled Multigenerational Workplaces.

In April 2015, Law360 ranked the 100 best U.S. law firms for women, based on female representation at the partner and nonpartner levels and total number of female attorneys. The firm ranked #14 among the 308 U.S. firms surveyed, and Kutak Rock ranked #5 among other AmLaw 200 firms.

In December 2014, Kutak Rock was recognized on The American Lawyer’s Honor Roll for promoting women to partnership. In 2008, and again in 2014, The American Lawyer analyzed the number of women making partner at AmLaw 200 law firms and determined that 30% indicates strength in this area. Since The American Lawyer set the 30% benchmark, Kutak Rock has been one of only three AmLaw 200 firms to achieve the benchmark six of the seven years (no firm achieved the benchmark all seven years). The firm exceeded the 30% benchmark again in 2015 and 2016 and is well above national averages for women attorneys in all categories, including leadership.

In 2016, Above the Law and NavForward gave Kutak Rock an “A” based on data collected from 1,200 law firms, and NavForward described Kutak Rock as "super firm for women, indicative of rare firmwide leadership . . . a full 33% above the mean.”
