John Schembari Quoted in Omaha World-Herald Article Concerning City/County Severance Pay

News | August 30, 3016

Kutak Rock employee benefits attorney John Schembari is quoted in an article published in the August 29, 2016 edition of the Omaha World-Herald newspaper.

The article discusses the relative prevalence of guaranteed severance pay for city and county administrators compared to private-sector employees.

Schembari said that 90 to 95% of employees in Nebraska do not have a contract or a stipulation guaranteeing severance pay. “In a state like Nebraska, if you’re not one of the top few folks at a company, it’s very unlikely you’ll have a contract and more unlikely you’ll get severance if you’re let go,” Schembari said.
