On July 29, 2016 Kutak Rock attorney Alexis Pappas presented "Paid Leave Trends: Legal Updates & Thoughts on Compliance" to the Nebraska Chapter of the International Society of Certified Employee Benefit Specialists.

Pappas gave a brief overview of the paid leave movement in the United States and then covered the following topics of current concern:

• required paid and unpaid leave
• greater demand for paid maternity leave
• increases in family/parental leave

• proliferation of paid sick leave law
